By S. Cook
I originally bought a nice pair of riding shoes that were typical size width. The shoes felt very snug for me and I had to return them.
I did some research and found the SIDI Mega for people with wider feet.
These fit like a glove.
I wear a size 10.5 and the 45s were a perfect fit.
It is also a very nice looking shoe.

Several seasons ago, I bought a pair of SIDI mega MTB shoes. They fit perfectly, are indestructible, and have been doing double duty on my roadie with a set of MKS Cube quick release pedals. So when lining up a summer of century rides for my Bike Friday Pocket Rocket, some metric centuries to help my life-companion adjust to her new Pocket Rocket Pro, and Speedplay pedals for both bikes it was time for some road shoes.
Out of the box, SIDI quality is first-rate. Fit and finish are best-of-the-best Italian standard in a shoe that's about half the price of SIDI's top of the line Genius 6.6. It's like buying a Ferrari at Fiat prices! And from experience with my MTB shoes, that quality isn't just cosmetic: the company "builds shoes to last, not just to sell."
There are riders who can take full advantage of $500 shoes, Titanium Speedplay pedals, and that sort of stuff. (They fly by the folks I ride with at speeds that suggests they probably eat their young.) But for use on a 12-year-old 18.5 pound Bike Friday roadie that I can fold & throw in my airplane for group rides anywhere on the West Coast -- and be home in time for dinner ! -- the 2012 Genius 5 Pro is "Just Right!"

My trusty Carnac road shoes finally had seen their better days. My feet are fairly wide, so I need a shoe with plenty of room. I found the Sidi Genius Mega to be a terrific shoe that was noticeably lighter than my Carnacs. The ratchet adjusting strap allows micro adjustments even while riding. The price is substantial but worth it.
